M-700Pro - Programming the "Simple" version of the M700Pro
(shipping since 12/2005): |
- With the
radio in the channel
mode, rotate the
Group & Channel Selector Knobs
to select the radio channel Group (A, B, C), and memory location
(0-50) you wish to program.
- Enter the desired 5-6 digits of the
desired frequency. A caret symbol {►} will appear on the LCD
display while entering the frequency numbers.
- Press and hold the
ENT keypad
key. The dial LCD display will show "Simplex", the radio
will beep twice, and the caret {►}
will disappears when your entry is stored. Note:
The M700Pro assumes
you're programming a simplex frequency. It automatically
programs the transmit frequency with the same value stored as
the receive frequency. It is not necessary to
program the transmit frequency separately unless you wishe to enter a
"duplex" frequency pair.
- To enter a transmit
frequency that's different from the receive frequency (duplex
frequency pair), after storing the receive frequency (steps 1-3
above), enter the transmit frequency, then press and hold the "T
Only" key.
The
SSB's LCD dial display will show "Duplex", the radio will beep
twice, and the caret {►}
will disappear, when the new transmit frequency is stored.
Note:
If your M700Pro
keypad is not enabled,
try the following:
With the 700Pro
turned off, simultaneously hold down the
"T Only" Key
and the
"ENT" Key
while pressing the Power
On/Off button.
If this does not enable the keypad, then make arrangements to
take/ship your M700Pro to an Authorized Icom dealer like
DockSide Radio, who has the software & hardware needed to
reprogram the radio and activate the keypad. Note:
Dealers may charge for this service, so ask before engaging
them.

M-700Pro - Programming the "older" (pre 12/2005) (Model 24): |
There are at least two earlier versions of the M700Pro that program
differently, or cannot be programmed unless "opened up" by an
Authorized Icom Dealer. To
program the more recent version of the older versions:
- Turn the
Radio
OFF.
- With the radio off,
simultaneously hold down the
mode and
squelch (SQL)
buttons while
turning the radio on.
This activates the 10-key keypad and puts the radio into the
"extended
frequency mode",
permitting it to transmit on both amateur radio and ham
frequencies.
- Select the "A", "B",
or "C" Memory Mode/User Group with the
Group Channel Selector Knob.
- Press the
CH/Freq
keypad button to put the radio into the
Channel Mode. Select the
radio memory location/radio channel to be programmed.
- Press the
CH/Freq
keypad button to get into the Frequency mode.
- Enter the new frequency
using the keypad.
- Check to see that the correct
mode
is showing.
- Press and hold the
ent
key until you hear two beeps from the radio's speaker (Hint:
keep the volume turned up so you'll be sure to hear the
beeps).
- The LCD display on
the radio will display the newly programmed frequency and
show simp
(simplex) on the screen.
It is not necessary to
program the receive and transmit frequencies separately when
programming the M-700Pro unless you wish to enter a
"duplex" frequency set. The M-700 Pro "assumes" that
you're operating "simplex", and that the
desired transmit frequency is the same as the receive
frequency.
| Note:
|
The M-700Pro
must be manually set to the Extended Frequency mode
each time it is turned on. |
| |
The Group Channel Selector
knob tunes the radio in 1-KHz steps, and the Channel
Selector now tunes the radio in 100 cycle
increments when the Extended Frequency mode is
enabled. |
|
The
original M700Pro's sold during the 1990's were shipped with the keypad
deactivated. If you have one of these "vintage" M700Pro's,
make arrangements to take/ship your M700Pro to an Authorized Icom dealer
like DockSide Radio, who has the software & hardware needed to reprogram
the radio and activate the keypad.
Note: There are no obvious identifying marks,
labels, or model designations to assist in determining one version of
M700Pro from another.
Dealers may charge for
this service, so ask before engaging them.
