A Quick Note about Cruising Nets:

The cruising lifestyle lends itself to making life-long friendships, and keeping in touch with each other is important, especially during passage making.  Cruising nets are both a social tool for maintaining contact with fellow cruisers, and a key safety tool for gathering information on weather and sea conditions. They are one of the key reasons for investing in a SSB or HAM radio system.

Unlike satellite-based communications systems, HF radio communications is a kind of 'party line'. By listening to one or two nets daily we are able to develop a mental picture of what boats are in our vicinity, where they are located relative to us, who is on board, and what the trends in weather and sea conditions are.
